Schema Markup

Definition

Code you add to pages that tells Google ‘this is a product’ or ‘this is a Q&A’ or ‘this organization has a CEO named X.’ It helps Google understand your page structure without guessing. Done right, you can earn rich snippets and better AI understanding.

Why It Matters

Schema gets you rich snippets in search results—ratings, prices, availability. It also helps AI systems and Google understand what’s on your page. Missing schema means missing visibility in rich results and AI recommendations.

How to Improve

  • Start with Organization schema to claim your company info, location, and contact details.
  • Add Product schema if you sell things. Add FAQ schema if you answer questions. Match schema to actual page content.
  • Validate your markup with Google’s Rich Results Test before deploying. Broken schema won’t help.
  • Update schema when info changes. Old prices or outdated contact info in schema confuses machines.
