Content Calendar
Last updated: March 2025
Definition
A schedule mapping what content gets published, when, and on which channel. It's operational: dates, owners, formats, and distribution channels. Not strategy. The calendar turns your content strategy into executable tasks with deadlines so nothing slips through the cracks.
Why It Matters
Without a calendar, publishing is reactive and inconsistent. Teams forget to publish, duplicate efforts, or miss seasonal opportunities. A content calendar creates accountability, prevents last-minute scrambles, and ensures you're covering your priority topics systematically.
How to Improve
- Plan at least four weeks ahead. Anything less and you're always in reactive mode.
- Include the target keyword, format, owner, and publish date for each piece. Vague calendar entries get skipped.
- Build around key dates: product launches, seasonal trends, industry events. These drive higher-than-average engagement.
- Review the calendar weekly with your team. Adjust based on what's performing and what's stalled.
