Above the Fold

Definition

The part of your page people see without scrolling. It's the snapshot decision point—whether they stay or bounce. You have one chance to say who this is for, what they get, and why they should believe you.

Why It Matters

Most bounces happen before scrolling. If your headline is vague or your fold is cluttered, people leave. Fixing just this section often cuts bounce rate by 20-40% because you're intercepting the decision at the critical moment.

How to Improve

  • Headline should say exactly who this is for and what they'll get. 'For content teams struggling with consistency' not 'Your Brand Solution.'
  • Add one trust signal next to the CTA—a logo, stat, or badge.
  • Cut visual clutter. One image or one message. Not both.
  • Design mobile first. Desktop fold is big enough; mobile isn't. Test there.
