Unique Mechanism
Definition
The specific way your solution works that others don't or can't replicate. Not a feature. The method that creates your results. 'We use a proprietary framework' is weak. 'We analyze 47 data points competitors miss' is a mechanism.
Why It Matters
Everyone claims they're best. Mechanisms are why you actually are. A credible mechanism lets prospects explain your value to their boss in concrete terms. It also justifies premium pricing because the method is defensible and hard to copy.
How to Improve
- Document exactly how you deliver results. What's different about your process? Where do competitors cut corners?
- Name your framework or method and use it consistently in copy and sales. Naming creates memorability and feel of substance.
- Show one real example of your mechanism in action. Not sales copy—actual before/after with a real customer.
- Get a customer quote explaining the mechanism back to you in their own words. That's validation that it's actually different.
